Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) is the biggest university in Greece. Named after the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle, AUTH was founded originally in 1926. Located in the center of Thessaloniki, has 90.000 under- and post-graduate students and 4000 teaching and administrative staff members. Highly recognized internationally, participates in more than 35 international academic associations, and has collaboration contracts with more than 1400 Universities worldwide.
High Voltage Laboratory @ AUTh
Founded in 1984 by Prof. CA Stassinopoulos, officially established by a presidential degree in 2001,
and directed by Prof. PN Mikropoulos since 2005, serves (2 faculty members, 5 postdoc RAs, 10 PhD
students) within the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering providing:
- high voltage engineering education
- high voltage engineering research
- an independent evaluation/test center for use by utilities and industry
- consultancy, training, short courses and seminars in high voltage engineering.

Founded in 1972 as School of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering. Since 1976 School of Electrical Engineering and since 1993 School of Electrical & Computer Engineering. It has 2.800 under- and postgraduate students, 41 Faculty members, 22 people Technical & Administration staff.
